Tilinga temple

Introduction

Tilinga temple is a bell temple which is situated approx 10 km from new tinsukia junction.It is in small town bordubi in tinsukia district, assam. This temple houses the deity of lord Shiva. Here, you can see Verity of bell tied in peeple tree because people tie this all bell after fullfill the wishes for  that they prayed in this temple.......

Story

Tilinga Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which is located in the Bordubi town near Tinsukia of upper Assam.Tilinga in Assame is regarded as bell (Ghanti) Mandir means Temple (Bell Temple). It is believed that one who offers or ties bell in tilinga temple their wishes will be fulfilled. Nearly thousand of the bell in various metal forms bronze, copper, ranging from 0.5 kilos to 50 kilos weight are been offered to Lord Shiva in this temple.


This temple is about fifty years old. The temple premises shows an old peepal (Banyan) tree which is enormously tied to the bells by various devotees. The stories of this temple say that around 1965 tea garden workers around Tinsukia noticed the Lingam of Lord Shiva emerged out of the earth near the huge peepal (Banyan) tree.

Later after this incident, the administration thought of constructing a temple is now been known as the famous Tilinga temple. By the time progress devotees visit the temple to full fill their wishes and prayers in return they offer bells to the Lord. This became a popular talk among the devotees all around the nation and this tradition is followed till today.


The Temple roof consists of four giant bells the temple entry also shows a metallic bell, devotees ring the bell and enter the temple. Daily the Bell temple is filled with a crowd of devotees but on Monday the temple looks like an Ocean of devotees were gathered as Shiva devotees believe that Monday is the day of Lord Shiva even on Mahashivratri there will be an enormous crowd of devotees in the temple.

The whole temple is covered with bells (symbol of offering from the devotees to Lord Shiva for their wishes). The devotees offer pooja, aarti and other Hindu rituals to Lord Shiva even pigeons and Trishuls were also offered to Lord Shiva.
